# GummySearch alternatives in 2026: the Reddit tools left standing | Mentio

> GummySearch closed on November 30, 2025. What it did, which tools now cover each job, and how to choose between free alerts, AI-scored monitoring and audience research.

Source: https://mentio.dev/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/

GummySearch shut down on November 30, 2025. Its homepage now says so and points people elsewhere. It was the tool a lot of founders used to read Reddit like a market: find the subreddits where your buyers talk, see what they complain about, and get alerted when a keyword came up. No single tool replaces all of that, so this guide is organised by the job you hired GummySearch for.

Key takeaways

- GummySearch closed on November 30, 2025. No single tool does all three of its jobs, so pick by job.
- Keyword alerts: F5Bot for free by email, Mentio at $5 per keyword per month for scored alerts in Slack, Syften from $29.95 a month.
- Lead finding: Octolens at $199 a month for developer-facing teams, RedShip for finding and answering threads.
- Audience research: a few hours a month reading Reddit directly, with alerts pointing at the threads worth reading.

What it did: search Reddit by keyword, group the results by subreddit, and set a tracked keyword. [Watch on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQxl2Q_bwJk)

## The three jobs

1. **Keyword alerts**: tell me when someone on Reddit mentions my product, my competitor or my problem.
2. **Audience research**: which subreddits should I be in, what do they ask, what do they hate.
3. **Lead finding**: surface the threads where someone is about to buy, so I can answer.

Most tools below do one of these well and one badly. Pick for the job you do weekly.

## For keyword alerts

### F5Bot (free)

![The F5Bot homepage](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/f5bot.jpg)

F5Bot: the free baseline, posts and comments, email only.

Free, fast, and the only tool here that alerts on Reddit comments as well as posts. It emails raw matches with no scoring and no Slack. If your keyword is distinctive and your inbox is your workflow, start here.

### Mentio ($5 per keyword per month, $0.008 per mention)

![Mentio's Reddit monitoring page](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/mentio-reddit.jpg)

Mentio: every subreddit searched every 30 minutes, each post scored, delivered where you work.

Mentio is the one I built, so weigh this paragraph accordingly. It searches every subreddit for each keyword every 30 minutes through the official API, scores each post for relevance, sentiment and intent, and delivers the ones that clear your rule to Slack, Telegram, email, a webhook, or an AI agent over MCP. Posts only, like every tool on the official API. There is no plan: $5 per keyword per month charged per day, $0.008 per matched mention, and every account starts with $5.80 of credit and no card. It also watches [X](/x/), Hacker News, GitHub and six more platforms in the same feed, which GummySearch never did.

### Syften (from $29.95 a month)

![The Syften homepage](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/syften.jpg)

Syften: community monitoring across Reddit, Hacker News, Indie Hackers and more.

Syften watches Reddit posts and comments alongside Hacker News, Indie Hackers and a long list of communities, with Slack, webhooks and an API on the higher plans and a 14-day trial with no card. Twitter and YouTube are paid add-ons. The closest thing to GummySearch’s tracked keywords if you want a plan rather than a balance.

### ForumScout

![ForumScout's Reddit keyword alerts page](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/forumscout.jpg)

ForumScout: real-time Reddit keyword alerts, email first.

A focused Reddit and forum alerting tool: enter a keyword, get email alerts across subreddits. Simple, and simple is sometimes the point.

## For lead finding

### Octolens ($199 a month)

![Octolens' Reddit monitoring page](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/octolens.jpg)

Octolens: AI-filtered Reddit mentions with buy-intent tags, Slack and an API.

Octolens is built for the same developer-facing companies Mentio is, with AI filtering that tags buying intent and delivery to Slack, email, webhooks and an API. It is priced as a plan: $199 a month for 10 keywords and 15,000 mentions, with a 7-day trial. If you want a dashboard your whole marketing team lives in, it is the polished option.

### RedShip

![The RedShip homepage](/blog/gummysearch-alternatives/redship.jpg)

RedShip: Reddit-only, built around finding and answering threads.

RedShip is Reddit-only and lead-first: it finds the threads where people ask for recommendations and helps you reply without getting banned. Closer to GummySearch’s “conversations” tab than to an alerting tool.

## For audience research

This is the job nobody has fully replaced. GummySearch’s subreddit discovery, its “what does this audience ask” views and its trend graphs were the product. Two partial answers:

- **Reddit itself.** Reddit’s search plus a few hours reading is still the honest way to learn a community, and it is free.
- **Brand24 and Awario**, if you need reports. Both cover Reddit inside a broader social listening plan, with sentiment and share-of-voice charts. Brand24 starts at $249 a month for 3 keywords; Awario at €29 a month for 3 topics with a free trial.

Brand24: Reddit inside an enterprise-style listening plan with PR reports.

Prices were checked on the tools’ own pricing pages on the day of writing; “not stated” means the tool’s page does not say. A tool that says it alerts on comments is either polling comment streams or using data beyond the official search API; for what that means, read [what Reddit’s API actually exposes](/blog/reddit-api-pricing/).

## What I would do

If GummySearch was your alerting tool, move the keywords to F5Bot for free or to Mentio if you want them scored and in Slack; the [Reddit monitoring page](/reddit/) explains exactly what is watched and how often. If it was your research tool, budget a few hours a month of reading Reddit directly, and let alerts tell you which threads to read.
